AI Subscription Payment Troubleshooting Decision Tree for ChatGPT, Grok, Claude and Gemini
Treat payment, subscription and entitlement as separate states. Identify the billing channel and original account before escalating the issue.

The short answer
Stop and do not pay again. A bank authorization, captured charge, active subscription and attached account entitlement are different states. Identify the billing channel, confirm the original purchasing account, inspect the subscription and then contact the party that owns the failed state.
Decision tree
- Preserve the current state. Save the exact time, amount, currency, order ID and error. Determine whether the bank shows pending, authorized or completed.
- Identify the billing channel. Was it the product website, App Store, Google Play, X, Google One or an independent service?
- Confirm the original account. The store account, billing profile and AI product account may be different identities.
- Inspect the subscription. Check the original channel for an active or pending plan, then verify the entitlement on the official product page.
- Escalate the failed state. Billing providers own incomplete charges; product providers own completed charges with missing entitlements.

A receipt without paid access usually means the problem has moved from payment execution to subscription ownership or entitlement attachment.
Troubleshoot by billing channel
Product website
Sign in with the original product account and open its Billing, Plan or Subscription page. Confirm the plan, expiry date, receipt and masked account identifier. Do not create a store subscription merely because the app has not refreshed.
Apple App Store
Check the subscription under the original Apple ID, then sign in to the product app with the account used at purchase. OpenAI documents Settings → Account → Restore purchases for its iOS app. Do not generalize that flow to Android or to every AI product.
Google Play
Use the original Google account to inspect Payments & subscriptions, order history and the payment method. On Android, verify the Play account and the product account instead of inventing an iOS-style universal restore button.
X, Google One or partner billing
Manage X Premium+ charges through X. For Gemini / Google AI plans, check Google One, Google Payments or the original Google Play account. A partner may own billing while the AI product still owns entitlement recognition.
ChongGrok order
Use the original order, card key or support record. Never post a session credential, User ID, card key or complete order details publicly. ChongGrok can investigate its own fulfillment record, but it cannot resolve a bank or store charge that it did not process.

Redacted evidence checklist
- Product, plan, term and billing channel;
- exact time, amount, currency, receipt and order ID;
- bank state: pending, authorized, completed or refunding;
- masked purchasing and current account identifiers;
- official Billing, Subscription or Plan screen;
- exact error, device, app version and attempted steps.
Do not publish complete session credentials, User IDs, card keys, email addresses, order numbers, card details, verification codes or recovery data.
Only consider a new purchase after the old state is closed
Re-evaluate purchase options only after confirming that no active subscription, pending charge, pending refund or unresolved fulfillment order exists. If a user lacks a supported international payment method, ChongGrok has separate membership pages for ChatGPT, SuperGrok and Claude.
